Hall of Fame great Roy Jones Jr has advised Shakur Stevenson on what he should do next just days after he captured yet another world title.
Stevenson made a return to action last weekend as he defeated Teofimo Lopez to become the WBO world super-lightweight champion at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The 28-year-old from Newark dominated his countryman from the get-go and produced an outstanding performance which saw him become the fastest four-weight world champion of all time.
As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for Stevenson, former pound-for-pound great Jones has revealed what he believes the unbeaten American should do next.
Speaking on All The Smoke Fight, Jones said that he would like to see Stevenson remain at 140lbs as he says the 28-year-old looked ‘really good’ at the weight.
“I want to say this too. Shakur looked really, really good at that 140 pound division, you understand me? His body was filled out. His punches looked and sounded harder. He looked really good at 140. I mean, I know he probably wants to go back down to 35 but he looked really good at 140. I promise you he did. His body filled out perfectly for that weight class.”
Whilst Stevenson could be tempted with potential showdowns with WBC super-lightweight champion Dalton Smith and IBF champion Richardson Hitchins, the Newark-native is also said to be interested in a future clash with WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney, who recently said he would defeat Stevenson should they cross paths in the future.
