Roy Jones Jr Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Jake Paul Can Ever Become World Champion

Jake Paul will look to move a step closer to becoming a legitimate world champion this year.

The 28-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio will face former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday June 28.

Paul’s last outing came against the now retired heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, who he defeated via unanimous decision after their controversial bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15.

‘The Problem Child’ is also said to be in negotiations for a showdown with reigning WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, with a bout potentially set to take place before the end of 2025.

In an interview with Prime Casino, Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr shared his thoughts on whether he believes Paul can actually become a world champion, as he pays homage to the ‘power’ of the former YouTube star who has the ability to ‘knock anybody out’.

“The whole purpose [behind the fight] is creating the argument for Jake Paul to fight for a world title. That’s what he really wants to do. And it’s not bad the way he’s going about it. He’s creating that argument, and eventually, if he keeps going, he’ll get a shot.

“I ain’t gonna say that [he will win a title], but he’ll get a shot depending on who the opponent is, but he will get a shot, and he has the power to win anything. He can knock anybody out.”

Victory over Chavez Jr could lead Paul even closer to achieving his dream of capturing world honours, with ‘The Problem Child’ hoping to win in style against the 39-year-old from Mexico who will undoubtedly have a point to prove.
