Roy Jones Jr has had his say on who he deems to be the most underrated fighter of all time.

Jones was an elite fighter in his own right, having become a world champion at middleweight, super-middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight during his career.

When he captured the WBA heavyweight title in 2003, the Florida native became the first former world middleweight champion to become world heavyweight champion in 106 years. He also reigned as undisputed at 175lbs from 1999 to 2002.

The Boxing Writers Association of America named him the Fighter of the Decade for the 1990s, the first time the award was in existence. Had it been around in the 1980s, it is likely that one of the ‘Four Kings’ would have been the recipient.

The ‘Four Kings’ consisted of Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns, with the group of iconic fighters all involved in legendary battles with one another throughout that particular decade.

When asked by DAZN to name the most underrated fighter of all time, Jones Jr went with one of those four men as his answer: Roberto Duran.

Duran had a career spanning over 30 years, competing in an incredible 119 bouts from 1968 to 2001.

He was a four-weight world champion, having claimed world honours at lightweight, welterweight, light middleweight and middleweight during his time inside the ring.

Having shared the ring with each of Leonard, Hagler and Hearns, Duran has named who out of the ‘Four Kings’ he deemed to have had the best chin.
