Scottish great Josh Taylor has summed up the boxing ability of Conor Benn after ‘The Destroyer’ made his return to the ring against a former rival.

Benn made his first ring appearance since he drew the curtain on his rivalry with Chris Eubank Jr last November, gaining revenge in the rematch after defeat in the initial clash.

Tonight, the 29-year-old from London defeated two-time world super-lightweight champion Regis Prograis, 37, by unanimous decision, in what was the American’s first fight above 140lbs.

Despite winning comfortably, Benn could not score the stoppage against Prograis, who post-fight admitted he had battled bad injuries in training camp.

One man who shared the ring with Prograis in his prime is former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor, who defeated ‘Rougarou’ in the final of the World Boxing Super Series back in 2019.

Speaking on social media shortly after Benn was declared the winner, Taylor shared a damning two word verdict on Benn’s boxing ability.

“Benn is absolutely rank rotten”

‘The Destroyer’ is expected to campaign at welterweight going forward, and he is now next in line to face the newly-crowned WBC world welterweight champion Ryan Garcia.

Benn was declared the mandatory challenger last year and could secure the bout by the end of 2026. Garcia, posting on social media, welcomed the idea.
