The final countdown is on to Anthony Joshua versus Daniel Dubois.
The all-British heavyweight match-up is an intriguing clash for Dubois’ new IBF world title at Wembley Stadium and comes at a good time for both fighters. Each man is coming off the back of a good run of wins. For Dubois, he has built self-confidence and earned newfound respect after his stoppage loss to Oleksandr Usyk by scoring back-to-back victories over Fillip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller inside the distance.
Joshua meanwhile has got back to winning ways after a pair of difficult points decision defeats to Usyk in 2021 and 2022. His last three victories have come with increasingly impressive knockouts over Robert Helens, Otto Wallin, and Francis Ngannou.
Speaking to Boxing Now, 24-year-old British heavyweight prospect Matty Harris, who has won five of seven fights by KO, has revealed he has sparred both men and spoke about Dubois’s best trait.
“Past couple of years I’ve sparred both of them. Both good fighters, Dubois’s got a very solid jab. That is something that I remember.”
Harris, who has bounced back from a shock loss with two wins this year, then made his prediction for the fight and went with the size and power of Joshua.
“I’ve just got a feeling Joshua beats him. I’ve got a feeling Joshua wipes him out to be honest. I think he’s too experienced. You see the difference in the size of them as well. Joshua is a much bigger man than Dubois. He’s a very educated boxer. He can punch hard when he wants to, I don’t see Dubois beating him unless he tries to rush Joshua and makes it dirty using his head and what not, I don’t see how he beats him.”
The winner of the fight could stand a good chance of going into an undisputed fight next year with the winner of Tyson Fury versus Usyk 2, which takes place in December.
