A shock fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua has emerged as a possibility this week.

Paul was last in action in November when he defeated boxing legend Mike Tyson, in a controversial bout due to ‘Iron Mike’ now being 58-years-old and having not competed for nearly two decades.

The criticism has seemingly led to Paul to target active boxers instead, with Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis both linked to fights against ‘The Problem Child.’

Neither of them were able to materialise, and Paul has instead opted to make the shock call out of former unified world heavyweight champion Joshua.

‘AJ’ made a brief response to the callout on social media by indicating that it could take place in 2026, and his promoter Eddie Hearn has now revealed to Matchroom Boxing exactly what Joshua told him about the match-up.

“He said ‘why not? Tell everyone I’ll fight anyone anytime.'”

Hearn then expanded further on whether the clash could actually happen.

“This is the first time I’ve spoken about the fight. I look at it and I think Jake Paul against Anthony Joshua, we’d do it for the banter. AJ would fight Jake Paul. He’d fight anyone to be honest with you. If Jake Paul wants to step up and fight Anthony Joshua, he’d need the relevant insurance.

“The only thing that was disappointing is he says 2026… Do it in 2025 if you really want to do it. You’re not going to get much better at this stage. Those two have spoken. I spoke to AJ this morning he said ‘of course I’ll fight him.’

“Jake creates massive events. You know that’s going to create unbelievable viewership, and no disrespect to Jake Paul, it’s a straightforward night’s work. I like this calling out of Canelo and all this, but AJ is another challenge. If they’re game why not.”

It remains to be seen if a Joshua vs. Paul fight will become a genuine reality, with ‘AJ’ also linked to fights against the likes of Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Daniel Dubois.
