Former unified world champion Anthony Joshua has made his way over to Spain to train with Oleksandr Usyk for his next fight.

Joshua has been out of the ring for more than a year recovering from minor elbow surgery. His last fight in September 2024 saw him knocked down multiple times before being stopped in the 5th round by then-IBF ruler Daniel Dubois.

He has been without a belt since 2021 and his first of two losses to Usyk, who then went on to become history’s first-ever two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler in the four-belt era.

In an unlikely twist of fate, it was recently revealed that Joshua has gone to join up with Team Usyk in preparation for his next fight with Jake Paul in December.

However, speaking to the Online Betting Guide, a member of that team has confirmed ‘AJ’ has indeed been over but has not been sparring the great Ukrainian.

“AJ came over, he and Usyk worked together, but there was no sparring — Jake Paul isn’t a southpaw, so it didn’t make sense. He shared his experience during the preparation process.”

Paul is a huge underdog in this fight, which many think could be hugely dangerous. He is a novice pro with just 13 fights to his name and is a cruiserweight who has never fought a world-level boxer in their prime.

So far, he has beaten the likes of almost 60-year-old Mike Tyson and former MMA stars like Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva, while his only loss came on points to Tommy Fury.
