Ahead of his fight with Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua has explained how he thinks ‘The Problem Child’ would have got on against Gervonta Davis.

Paul’s bout with multi-weight world champion ‘Tank’ was originally scheduled for November 14 in Miami and set to stream on Netflix, though was officially called off following a civil lawsuit filed against Davis by his ex-girlfriend.

Paul’s promotion company withdrew from the event, and Paul condemned Davis before going in search of a new opponent.

After a few weeks of speculation, ‘The Problem Child’ now faces the considerable challenge of fighting Joshua, who is a much taller, much larger, much harder-hitting opponent and a former two-time unified world heavyweight champion.

He has not fought for a year, however, and last time out he was stopped in dramatic fashion by IBF ruler Daniel Dubois inside five rounds. Paul’s last fight was earlier this year and resulted in a points win over the ageing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Speaking with FIghtHype, AJ broke down how he thinks Paul’s fight against current lightweight world champion ‘Tank’ may have gone.

“I think Gervonta would have struggled in some aspects but I think he would have got the victory. His counter punching ability, like how he done with Frank Martin, tight guard, took some shots on the gloves, figured out his distance, then counter-punched Jake to hurt him.”

The fight between Joshua and ‘The Problem Child’ takes place over eight rounds on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, with the Brit a heavy favourite for the bout.
