Anthony Joshua has responded to Tyson Fury‘s latest comments on his retirement.

Joshua and Fury have been linked to a fight with one another for a number of years, and following Fury’s two defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, it looked like it would finally happen in 2025.

Those plans all changed though when ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his abrupt retirement in January, but a lot of boxing fans still believe the fight could yet take place.

There were rumours in recent weeks that Fury was back in training, but he took to social media to insist that he still remains happily retired.

“I hear a lot of talk of the Gypsy King returning to boxing, and I ask the question of this one. For what? What would I return for? More boxing belts? Won 22 of them.

“I’ve been rumped. That’s it, fair play to them. They’ve had their use of me, but I’m happy. I’m happy, contented with what I’ve done, what I’ve achieved, what I’ve accomplished, been around the world and back again, and here we are.

“This is what retirement looks like for the Gypsy King. Not too shabby. I’m in no rush at all to come back boxing, and get my face punched in for what? What would I return for? I asked that question. So here we are. I’m retired and I’m staying retired. I’ve got nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to return for.”

Joshua has now spoken for the first time since Fury’s latest claims, posting on his own social media a photo of him watching Fury in a ring and that he is still convinced their own clash will happen.

“One of these days it’ll be me standing in the opposite corner, ready and fully charged spiritually.”

If the Fury vs. Joshua fight was indeed to take place, some of boxing’s biggest names have already weighed in on who they believe would win.
