Anthony Joshua is all set to make his highly-anticipated return to the ring in a controversial showdown with Jake Paul next month.

AJ is set to face Paul in an eight round sanctioned professional bout on Friday November 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, the latest high-profile event to be shown exclusively on Netflix around the world.

The 36-year-old from Watford has been out of action since he suffered the fourth defeat of his professional career to former IBF world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had hinted that ‘AJ’ would be making a return to the ring before the end of the year, but it came as a huge shock when it was announced that the two-time unified heavyweight champion would be facing the YouTuber-turned-boxer next.

Speaking shortly after his comeback was announced, Joshua said that he would be showing ‘no mercy’ when he faces Paul on December 19, putting an end to speculation that he would be ‘going easy’ on the 28-year-old.

“Jake or anyone can get this work. No mercy. I took some time out and I’m coming back with a mega show. It’s a big opportunity for me. Whether you like it or not, I’m here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected. Mark my words, you’ll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I’m about to break the internet over Jake Paul’s face.”

Should he come through his bout against Paul unscathed, Joshua looks set to return to the ring once again in February before he pushes towards securing a long-awaited showdown with countryman Tyson Fury.
