Anthony Joshua has sparred Dave Allen and has now predicted how his rematch will go against Johnny Fisher.
Allen is a popular British heavyweight who has been in with many of the big names from the current era, including Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte, Tony Yoka and David Price. He also claimed he had boxed the head off Joshua when the two sparred many years ago.
Last time out, after an extended lay-off, Doncaster’s Allen took on Essex rising star Fisher in December 2024 on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s rematch versus Tyson Fury. It was an intriguing contest with plenty of back and forth, including a knockdown for Allen in the fifth round., However, Fisher rallied and, rather controversially, got the nod with a split decision on the cards.
The pair do it again over 10 rounds this weekend when Fisher is looking to keep his unblemished record of 13 wins from 13 fights intact, while Allen looks to wrestle away the WBA Intercontinental title that is on the line and put himself in line for more big nights under the lights.
Asked by DAZN for a winner, ‘AJ’ sided with ‘The Romford Bull.’
“I can’t wait for this one. I rate both of them. Dave is more experienced but Johnny has a heap of potential. If I had to pick a winner, I’m going with Johnny to show his potential to the world. Let’s go!”
For Fisher to progress further up the levels, he will be looking for a statement win this time around with no controversy. Carl Froch is one of many who are finding it a hard fight to call.
