Canelo Alvarez is looking to get his career back on track following his defeat to Terence Crawford last month.
The Mexican superstar lost his undisputed super-middleweight crown after suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
It was the third defeat of Canelo’s career, having also been beaten by Floyd Mayweather and Dmitry Bivol, but all of those losses have come on points, with no man yet able to stop the 35-year-old inside the distance.
The win for Crawford saw him become undisputed in a third division, having also done it at super-lightweight and welterweight, and another former undisputed welterweight champion in Zab Judah has named who he thinks has what it takes to stop Canelo in the future.
Speaking to ESNews, Judah claimed that if a rematch between Alvarez and Crawford was to take place, he thinks ‘Bud’ is capable of getting the knockout.
“Canelo is a tough, solid Mexican and the Mexican eyes, from all my Mexican homies that I know, they all say they got to run that back, you got to run that back, let’s run it back.
“[The rematch goes] the same way, he [Crawford] maybe this time stops Canelo, you know what I’m saying? But as a solid tough guy in that position, run it back.”
Canelo has confirmed that he will continue with his career following the loss to Crawford, but it has been revealed this week that the Mexican great is set to undergo elbow surgery, which is due to keep him out of the ring until the middle of 2026.
