Jake Paul answered some of his critics with a ddominat performance against former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
‘The Problem Child’ was allowed to dominate the first eight rounds after Chavez seemed incapable of letting his hands go, much to the dismay of the crowd in attendance. Although the Mexican came on strong in the final stages, it was a case of too little, too late and Paul won a comfortable unanimous decision on the scorecards.
Speaking to FightHype after the contest, Chavez admitted he waited to long to get going but gave Paul credit for his power, describing him as a ‘good puncher’.
“He has a good punch, good puncher. He’s good physically. No excuse, he won more rounds, I waited too much.”
As for Paul, he will move on either towards a world title shot or look to face the biggest names in the sport. In his post fight interview he called out everyone from Gervonta Davis to Anthony Joshua as well as cruiserweight champions Gilberto Ramirez and Badou Jack.
“I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion, Zurdo looked slow as s**t tonight. That’d be easy work. Badou Jack, I want everybody. Anthony Joshua, Gervonta [Davis] and Tommy [Fury] stop running.
I’m just getting warmed up in this s**t. I’m ready. I’ll stay active and fight everybody. There’s a long line. I’ve got time, I’ll take on anyone, any time, any place.”
The WBO confirmed before the fight that a win would see Paul move into their rankings, so a legitimate shot a belt could come sooner rather than later.
