Jake Paul is just two weeks away from making his return to the ring against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

The 28-year-old from Cleveland will face Mexico’s former WBC world middleweight champion on Saturday June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

It will be the first ring appearance for Paul since he defeated heavyweight legend Mike Tyson via unanimous decision in their controversial bout at the AT&T Stadium in Texas last November.

‘The Problem Child’ has prevailed in all but one of his professional bouts since his debut back in 2020, suffering a close majority decision defeat to Britain’s Tommy Fury at the beginning of 2023.

Chavez Jr has had a disappointing career since he held the WBC middleweight title between 2011 and 2012, but the 39-year-old from Culiacan could somewhat redeem himself should he triumph over the former Youtuber who has been criticised for his choice of opponents.

Mexican boxing icon Julio Cesar Chavez Snr has spoken out ahead of his son’s clash with ‘The Problem Child’, revealing in an interview with Seconds Out that he believes his son should be victorious if he comes in at his absolute best.

“I think everyone has a second chance in life. My son has had it really tough in the past but I have never seen him so focused as he is going in to this fight. If he goes in that focused, there is no doubt in my mind that he beats Jake Paul.

Any fighter has a chance going into a fight. Jake Paul is a strong fighter, he hits hard, he’s young, and he does have an opportunity going into this fight but I believe my son will get the job done.”

Chavez Jnr could potentially derail Paul’s ambitions of securing himself a world title shot in the near future, although the 28-year-old is reportedly in negotiations for a catchweight bout with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
