Jaron Ennis and Karen Chukhadzhian shared the ring recently.
They met at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in early November, with Ennis putting his IBF welterweight title on the line for the second time after he was elevated from interim champion.
It was a rematch of when the two men went head to head in January 2023, with ‘Boots’ winning every round on his way to a unanimous decision win on that occasion.
This time around it went the distance again but was closer on some of the scorecards, with Ennis criticised by some fans for what they felt was a lacklustre performance despite his points victory.
He did manage to drop Chukhadzhian in round five though, and the Ukrainian has told 4our Corners Boxing just how hard he feels Ennis hits.
“He is very powerful. In the first fight I didn’t take so much damage, but this fight I felt his punches, he punched so hard. You can see the result on my face. If I didn’t take a knee, he would knock me out.”
‘Boots’ currently holds a record of 33-0, with 29 of his wins coming by knockout. Chukhadzhian is the only man dating back to 2017 that has managed to avoid falling victim to the power of the reigning IBF welterweight champion.
Attention has now turned to who Ennis may potentially take on next, with talks reported to be underway for a potential move up to 154lbs in his next fight to take on WBC interim super-welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz in Saudi Arabia in February.
