Katie Taylor has worked with Jake Paul before and has now been honest in her assessment of his fight with Anthony Joshua.
Taylor has competed on cards put on by Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), most famously against Amanda Serrano, whom she has fought and beaten three times on her way to becoming WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO light-welterweight world champion.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Taylor outlined her views on the December contest between novice pro Paul and former two-time unified ruler Joshua.
“I can’t believe that fight is happening, I’m sure you guys can’t either. Jake Paul goes from fighting Gervonta Davis to Anthony Joshua. It’s crazy. Jake Paul gets a lot of stick because he hasn’t got a boxing background, but he has got an entertainment background and boxing is the entertainment business.”
She then assessed the fight itself and admitted she can only see it going one way.
“This is a risky fight for both, but I would be surprised if Jake Paul didn’t get knocked out. Joshua is a huge puncher and a genuine heavyweight. If he gets caught with a shot it’s terrible for boxing, terrible for Joshua. But I have to give respect to Jake Paul for taking the fight. I think it’s insane that this is happening but I don’t have any problem with it happening, ’cause it brings more eyes on boxing.”
Joshua will be hoping to get the fight done early or else risk huge damage to his reputation. A win catapults him into 2026 and ready to get back to the top of his division in much less controversial fights.
