Former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman has sent a stern warning to Sebastian Fundora after their scheduled clash was postponed.
Fundora was pencilled in to make the third defence of his WBC world super-welterweight title against Thurman at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on October 25, but the reigning champion was forced to pull out with a hand injury.
It has been revealed however that the bout is set to be rescheduled, with reports suggesting that Fundora will be ready to make his long-awaited return to the ring by January of 2026.
Thurman made his comeback to the sport back in March as he stopped Australia’s Brock Jarvis in the 3rd round of their showdown in Sydney, putting an end to three years of inactivity.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, ‘One Time’ sent a message to Fundora following the news of his hand injury, as he urges the former unified super-welterweight champion to ‘not back out’ of their rearranged clash.
“Do what you gotta do baby, acupuncture, fix them up all right? Get that oil change, fix them up, show the docs if you got them baby, people don’t believe you son, they don’t believe you, they think you running okay? They think you doing funny stuff in the game, you wouldn’t be the first nor the last baby, speedy recovery to you, let’s make history happen, don’t back out of a great fight my man.”
Thurman will have his sights set on making up for lost time as he targets becoming a two-weight world champion following his success at welterweight where he defeated the likes of Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter before he was beaten by Filipino great Manny Pacquiao back in 2019.
