Highly-rated prospect Keyshawn Davis has had his say on the upcoming mega-fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Canelo is set to defend his unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles against the 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska who has already captured world titles in four weight divisions as he targets conquering a fifth.

Crawford expressed his interest in facing the Mexican superstar shortly after he dethroned WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov in Los Angeles last August, and after months of negotiations between the two fighters, a fight looks to now be agreed and will take place later this year.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine, Davis backed his fellow American to get the job done and defy the odds in his move up to 168lbs.

“Of course Bud. I just think he [Crawford] is the more pure boxer, Canelo is legendary though he’s great, you know what I’m saying. Another loss on his [Canelo’s] record is not gonna deteriorate how great his career is, I feel like Bud’s just the more pure boxer. Better footwork, southpaw, great jab and Bud got respectable power.”

The 37-year-old has already captured the undisputed championship at super lightweight and welterweight, but undoubtedly faces his biggest challenge yet against a man who has dominated the super middleweight division since he defeated Caleb Plant in 2021.

Canelo held the undisputed champion at 168lbs up until last year, when he was stripped of his IBF crown after he opted to face Edgar Berlanga rather than William Scull, who was the mandatory challenger at the time.
