Keyshawn Davis weighed in on Gervonta Davis’ upcoming rematch against Lamont Roach Jr.

‘Tank’ Davis is set to defend his WBA world lightweight title against ‘The Reaper’ once again, with an official announcement pending.

Their first encounter, which took place in New York on March 1, ended in controversy after the fight was declared a split decision draw, although it has been argued that Roach should have had his hand raised on the night.

Davis took a knee to the canvas midway through the ninth round after being on the receiving end of a Roach jab, but referee Steve Willis sensationally failed to rule this as an official knockdown, effectively squandering Roach’s chances of being crowned the new WBA lightweight champion. ‘Tank’ later said that grease from his hair had gotten in his eyes.

In an interview with Sean Zittel, WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis was asked to predict what he believes the outcome will be in the impending rematch between ‘Tank’ and Roach.

“I don’t know honestly, I really don’t know. It’s a 50/50 fight, I don’t know honestly, I really don’t know.”

Davis was then asked if he believes the outcome will rely on which version of ‘Tank’ turns up on fight night, and whether this is somewhat disrespectful to the abilities of Roach.

“No that is disrespectful to Roach, y’all fight fans gotta realise that it is disrespectful, he’s in there fighting another grown man that ain’t going for none of that s**t, and you don’t think Roach is gonna come with another game plan or something better?”

Keyshawn will look at a unification fight in the future with the winner, but first defends his belt against tough Edwin De Los Santos this weekend in Norfolk, Virginia.
