Former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis has summed up Shakur Stevenson‘s performance against Teofimo Lopez in New York City on Saturday night.
Stevenson etched his name into the boxing history books by becoming the fastest four-weight world champion of all time with a comprehensive points victory over Lopez to capture the WBO super-lightweight title.
All three of the judges at ringside produced identical scorecards which read 119-109 in favour of Stevenson after the 28-year-old from Newark put on arguably the best performance of his professional career to date.
Unbeaten star Davis made his long-awaited return to the ring on the undercard at Madison Square Garden, competing for the first time since February 2025 as he dropped former world title challenger Jamaine Ortiz multiple times on his way to a 12th round TKO victory.
He then had plenty to say about his countryman’s impressive display, as speaking to K.O. Artist Sports, Davis spoke fondly of close friend Stevenson as he claims he was ‘super happy’ for the newly-crowned WBO super-lightweight champion.
“The whole time, I had to take a pee test. So the whole time I’m backstage, bro, I’m just going crazy like ‘Oh he beating him up he’s easy work’, it’s not even a close fight. I was just happy for him. Super happy.”
Stevenson was called out by Britain’s Conor Benn just moments after he was declared the winner, with reports suggesting that the Newark-native could potentially make the move up to 147lbs to face Benn in the near future.
