Amir Khan Calls Out Boxing Legend For Return Fight: “If He Wants It He Can Get It”

Amir Khan has never been shy about calling out all manner of men to take him on in the ring.

For many years, Olympic Silver medalist Khan chased what would have been epic contests with the likes of pound-for-pound stars Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, both of whom dominated in his welterweight division.

Neither of those big money showdowns ever came but Khan did get huge nights in the US when he stepped up in weight to take on Canelo Alvarez and the soon-to-be undisputed welterweight ruler Terence Crawford.

The fight with the Mexican ended with a devastating one-punch knockout that left Khan out cold on the canvas, while he retired himself from the fight with Crawford after what he claimed was a low blow.

In his peak, former super-lightweight champion Khan was celebrated for his bravery and for lightning quick hands and secured wins over the likes of Luis Collazo, Marcos Maidana and Devon Alexander.

Posting on X, the Bolton man has now once again called out his old nemesis Pacquiao after reports emerged that plans for an exhibition bout between the two were in the works.

“If he wants it he can get it Manny Pacquiao”

Speaking to World Boxing News, Khan said he gets the feeling the Filipino legend ‘wants to fight’ but is

“I saw Manny Pacquiao last night. When I met him, I got the feeling that he wanted to fight me … With Manny, you never know if one day he’s serious because we’ve been talking about this for such a long time. Look, if he wants it, it can be in London, it can be in Manchester. Wherever it is, it could be anywhere in the world, really, because both of us fighters are big names. We could do a fight, but I just feel that Manny is wasting everyone’s time.

Khan retired after being knocked out by long-time British rival Kell Brook back in 2022, and was subsequently banned for two years for failing a drug test.

Multi-weight great Pacquiao has never officially retired but hasn’t fought since a loss to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021. The 45 year old did make an attempt to fight at the Paris Olympics though was unsuccessful as it was ruled he was too old to qualify.
