Amir Khan Leaves Main Event Halfway Through Because Of How Poor The Fight Was

Amir Khan walked out of one of the weekend’s big main event because he was left so disappointed with what he saw.

Khan has been retired since suffering a defeat to Kell Brook in February 2022 but during his career was never involved in a dull contest.

The Bolton man was the youngest ever amateur to become a silver medallist when he competed at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and soon began making moves in the professional ranks where he became a world champion.

Across an always hugely entertaining career, he famously went life and death with Marcos Maidana in a fight with both men being hurt multiple times, was himself KOed in brutal fashion by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and also took on pound-for-pound ruler Terrence Crawford before bowing out on a loss to his old rival Kell Brook.

This past weekend, controversial influencer Andrew Tate lost his Misfits Boxing debut to reigning heavyweight champion Chase DeMoor on Saturday night and, albeit briefly, Khan was ringside.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Khan explained why he left early.

“This is some pile of sh*t. I’m telling you. I’ve seen guys that give it the big ones. No disrespect, listen, maybe it’s the dancing partners, but there’s no punches being thrown, It’s just hugging. I’m a fighter so I should never talk bad of other fighters but. There’s nothing clean about this. I gotta go.”

Both men have been heavily criticised in the wake of the bout for not really engaging, with many calling it one of the worst fights ever.
