Amir Khan Delivers Honest Verdict On Whether Chris Eubank Jr Should Now Retire

Amir Khan has been asked whether or now it is time for Chris Eubank Jr. to walk away from boxing.

Khan himself knows how hard it is to leave the sport behind. He did so after losing a grudge match to Kell Brook back in 2023, and Eubank finds himself in a similar situation.

After beating his bitter rival Conor Benn in their first fight in April, he lost the rematch and barely even won a round back in November, with many people thinking his lacklustre showing was down to the amount of weight he had to lose to make the limit.

Before then, he clocked up good wins against the likes of James DeGale and beat Liam Smith by KO having suffered the first KO loss of his career in their first fight. He also lost to George Groves in the only world title fight he has had.

Speaking to iFL TV, Khan was asked what Eubank might do now, given his advancing years.

“Chris Eubank, it depends what financial position he is in. It’s a hard one to say – you’re always one punch away from getting hurt. He doesn’t need to prove anything. He’s never become a world champion, though.”

Eubank himself has said he is determined that he will fight on, but first he must recover from some lingering health issues he has been dealing with for a while.

At 36 years old, time is not on his side, and he would presumably campaign back up at super middleweight where he is more comfortable and unified champion Terence Crawford is in possession of three of the four major world titles.
