Amir Khan thinks Conor Benn should take a risk and challenge a multi-weight champion.
Khan could never be accused of taking easy fights as he often jumped up weights to take on the likes of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, who knocked him out in brutal fashion, and the recently retired Terrence Crawford, who also stopped him in the mid-rounds.
Benn is coming off the best win of his career, having beaten his long-time rival Chris Eubank Jr up at 160lbs back in November after losing the first fight in April on points.
Speaking to The Betway Blog, Khan suggested Benn should take on a legend of the sport next.
“It would be a fantastic fight for him against Manny Pacquiao. That’d be huge in the UK — people would be buzzing to see Pacquiao vs Benn. A lot of people in the UK want to see Manny fight there. He’s such a big name around the world, so we would love to see him fight here.
“They are both powerful, strong, and I want to see it. Manny is older now, and he is not like his old self and won’t be as sharp or as hard as he once was. These young up-and-coming fighters should up their game a little bit more and take the risk, take the big names and try to win against the biggest names out there.”
Khan is someone who long chased a fight with Pacquiao but never managed to lock his man down. Instead, he retired back in 2022 after losing to Kell Brook.
Benn, who is now the WBC number one, has suggested he is more interested in chasing down his first world title against the likes of Mario Barrios in 2026.
