Former world champion Amir Khan has revealed that there is only one man he would come out of retirement for.
Bolton’s famous speed-merchant has not fought since he lost by way of knockout to his bitter old British rival Kell Brook back in 2022, when he was admittedly already well past his best.
Prior to that, he had a decorated career, having been the youngest ever silver medallist at the Athens Olympics. His professional career saw him have huge nights with stars across the divisions from Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to Terence Crawford via Devon Alexander and Marcos Maidana.
It will come as no surprise that, speaking to SunSport, the one man Khan, now 38 and working as a promoter, would still like to fight is someone he chased through much of his career.
“The only person I’ve ever come back for and do an exhibition fight or maybe a fight is probably someone like Manny Pacquiao because size-wise I think style-wise is good.
“But other than Manny Pacquiao… and I heard that he’s an ambassador of IBA, so I think maybe we could do an IBA show with Manny Pacquiao and myself.”
Khan and multi-weight world champion Pacquiao were once sparring partners at Freddie Roach’s legendary Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
‘Pac Man’ is 47 this month and fought to a draw back in July when he took on WBC ruler Mario Barrios, and now plans to fight again next year, with WBA champion Rolly Romero seemingly the frontrunner for a clash against the Filipino.
