Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis have both been called out by a huge knockout artist.
Crawford is the reigning WBA super-welterweight champion after defeating Israil Madrimov back in August, becoming a four-weight world champion in the process.
Ennis meanwhile holds the IBF welterweight title, making two defences to date, the latest of which came in November when he defeated Karen Chukhadzhian by unanimous decision.
A clash between ‘Bud’ and Ennis has been speculated over the past year, but there is one fighter who is keen to face them both instead.
That man is Vergil Ortiz, the current WBC interim super-welterweight champion who returns to action in Saudi Arabia in February when he faces former Crawford foe Madrimov.
Initially it was expected that it would be Ennis in the opposite corner to Ortiz in February, but talks collapsed due to the unwillingness of ‘Boots’ to vacate his IBF belt to step up to 154lbs.
While it may not have materialised on that occasion, Ortiz is still keen to take on Ennis, and has told Pro Boxing Fans how he wants Crawford too.
“Honestly, I want them both. I really do. I think those are some great fights to be made and, like I said, I don’t want to fight people cause I have beef with them, I think they’re good fighters.
“I would like to prove myself and I know the fans want those fights. It kind of makes me that much more motivated and excited to be in those kind of fights.”
