Jake Paul is not short of options for his next fight.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer was last in the ring against 58-year-old heavyweight legend Mike Tyson. Although the event was a huge success with an estimated 100 million viewers, the main event action was underwhelming.
Tyson looked every bit his age in the ring, with Paul even admitting he wished ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ had offered more instead of just ‘surviving’ the eight rounds. The 27-year-old cruised to a comfortable points victory which never looked in any doubt past the opening minute.
Since that fight, the 27-year-old has been offered world title shots by light-heavyweight undisputed champion Artur Beterbiev and cruiserweight titlist Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ RamÃrez. But perhaps most surprising of all was the call out from current IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois.
Speaking on the Bricks to Riches podcast, Dubois, who is coming off a career best win over Anthony Joshua, said a clash against the brash American would be a ‘historic’ moment, but warned him what would happen in the ring.
“If Jake wants it with me he can get it. I’m the world champion, I’d be giving him a shot like that. Of course [I’ll knock him out in the first minute] but it’ll be a historic moment wouldn’t it? Like never before.
I wouldn’t take anybody likely, if someone got a chance at a world title then if he’s smart he’ll really go to work and try to be the best version of himself so I’d never take anyone likely.’
On the Tyson fight, ‘DDD’ wasn’t surprised with the outcome but claimed it was a win-win for all involved.
“I think it was real, Mike is a winner and it was a win-win situation for him but he’s nearly 60 years old so what do you expect.”
Dubois, who boasts 21 knockouts from his 22 victories, is expected to defend his IBF strap against Joseph Parker next on February 22 in Saudi Arabia.
