WBA super-featherweight champion Lamont Roach has spoken out after the controversial match-up between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul was cancelled.

Davis was pencilled in to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer in a ten round exhibition in Miami on November 14 before it was revealed that ‘Tank’ was named in a fresh civil lawsuit regarding domestic allegations, leading to the cancellation of their controversial bout.

WBA lightweight champion Davis was last in action back in March when he fought to a majority decision draw against Roach, although many viewers believe the challenger had done enough to hand ‘Tank’ the first defeat of his career.

Davis now finds himself in a difficult position once again with many fans left wondering whether the 30-year-old from Baltimore could actually be heading for retirement, something he had actually discussed earlier this year.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Roach didn’t give much away when asked to share his thoughts on the cancellation of Davis’ clash with Paul.

“Yeah it’s a shoulder shrug. It is what it is and it ain’t what it ain’t. it don’t got nothing to do with me.”

Roach was then asked if he believes there is still a possibility that he could face ‘Tank’ in a rematch in the future.

“People should let it go. I’ve let it go a long time ago. People should just let it go, it’s not gonna [happen]. I doubt it’s gonna happen. And me I know that, so I think people should just take things for what they really are.”

Having moved on from the likelihood of him securing a rematch with Davis, ‘The Reaper’ is now preparing to make his return to the ring against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz for the WBC interim super-lightweight title at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio on December 6.
