Larry Holmes Brands Heavyweight Legend ‘The Biggest Fraud’ In Boxing: “Everyone Knows It”

Larry Holmes is universally recognised as being one of the greatest heavyweight’s to ever lace up the gloves.

‘The Easton Assassin’ is known to have had one of the best jabs in the history of the sport, which was a key factor in him holding the world heavyweight championship for seven years from 1978 to 1985.

Holmes entered the ring 75 times during his professional career, claiming 69 victories along the way. He won his first 48 contests, defeating the likes of Trevor Berbick, Leon Spinks and the iconic Muhammad Ali during this time.

There was one man that didn’t cross the path of ‘The Easton Assassin’ during his glittering career, with Holmes dubbing him as the ‘biggest phoney’ in boxing.

In a resurfaced YouTube clip, Holmes called Foreman a fraud and claimed that ‘everybody’ knew he avoided facing him during his career.

“Everybody know that George Foreman can’t fight, everybody know that Tommy Morrison kicked his butt, everybody know that Shannon Briggs kicked his butt, everybody knew that he wouldn’t fight me .. George Foreman is the biggest phoney ever.”

Foreman’s legacy is undeniable, winning the world heavyweight championship on two occasions during his time as a professional. He retired from the sport in 1977 but made a sensational return 10 years later, going on to become the oldest heavyweight champion in history after he defeated Michael Moorer in 1994 at 45-years-old.

A fight between ‘Big’ George and Holmes never materialised, although it was reported that the heavyweight legends were on each other’s radar before Foreman walked away from the sport to pursue his role as a preacher.
