Lawrence Okolie has an inside view on the recently made fight between Moses Itauma and Dillian Whyte.

Okolie is a former WBC Cruiserweight and Bridgerweight world champion. The Brit beat the likes of Krzysztof Głowacki, Dilan Prašović and Michał Cieślak at 200lbs before losing his WBO title on points to Chris Billam-Smith back in May 2023, then moving up to claim the bridgerweight belt before the WBC Silver Heavyweight title in December 2024 when he beat Hussein Muhamed.

He has been pushing for a fight with bitter rival Whyte, but has now officially missed out. Instead, Whyte is set to face 20-year-old fast-rising star Itauma, who has 12 wins from 12 fights, and 10 KOs, including over Demsey McKean, Mariusz Wach and Mike Balogun in his last three fights, all inside two rounds.

Whyte has fought just twice in the last two and a half years following an investigation into a failed test, which ultimately ruled he had taken a contaminated substance. Those fights saw him score wins over Ebenezer Tetteh and Christian Hammer, but Itauma presents a much bigger challenge.

Speaking to The Stomping Ground, Okolie was asked how Whyte will fare against Itauma when the pair clash in Saudi Arabia having sparred rounds with both.

“Moses is on a great run, a good trajectory, so if they do fight, I think Moses will KO him in quick fashion, so yeah, good luck to him.”

The same card will see Nick Ball defend his WBA featherweight title against Sam Goodman, with August 16 the scheduled date.
