Many champions like to tease a return to the ring after some time has passed since their final bout.
Just recently, Tyson Fury’s name can be added to that list, as he is now back training and serious about fighting again despite previously announcing his retirement and having had more than a year off since his last fight, which was a second consecutive defeat to pound-for-pound ruler Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk’s countryman, Wladimir Klitschko, was also a great champion who held several world titles for many years, knocked out almost every man he faced and was only dethroned in 2015 by Fury, before then losing in an epic battle to Anthony Joshua at Wembley two years later. That KO loss sent him into retirement as a future Hall of Famer.
FightHub TV has now posted a video of the 49-year-old Klitschko moving around the ring with a strong-looking opponent. It’s an intense few minutes, with plenty of shots thrown, lots of movement, grappling and some of the famous right hands that helped Klitschko rule for so long as champion.
Fans have commented about Klitschko’s great shape and have got excited about the idea he might potentially return.
The oldest man to ever win a heavyweight world title was George Foreman at 46 years and 169 days old, and Wladimir has told those closest to him that he would love to break that record. With all of his political work in Ukraine, plus the strength of the current crop of heavyweights in and around world level, it remains an unlikely proposition.
