Former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux, 35-3-(32), scored a fourth round stoppage win over Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia, 23-3-(15), at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, US on Saturday night.
Lemieux coasted the first two rounds but Tapia fought his way back in the third to mix it with the hard hitting Canadian But Lemieux finally caught up with Tapia in fourth round when he decked. Tapia beat the count and was just about to go into battle again but his corner suddenly threw in the towel after 0 :56 of the fourth round.
In a surprisingly easy night’s work undefeated welterweight Frankie “Pitbull” Gomez, 21-0-(13) scored a clear and unanimous decision over 10 rounds agianst Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera, 22-5-(7). The scores were 100-90 on all three cards.
Former world title challenger Curtis “The Cerebral Assassin” Stevens, 28-5-(21) scored a stunning second round knockout win over Patrick Teixeira, 26-1-(22), to claim the vacant WBC De Las middleweight Americas title
Stevens hurt Teixeira with a left hook in the opening round prior to delivering a stunning right hand to finish Teixeira after 1:04 mark.
