Lennox Lewis Names The One Current Heavyweight Who Would Give Him A “Great Fight”

Lennox Lewis is considered by some fans as the greatest heavyweight of all time – but who from the modern crop of big men does he think would have given him a ‘great fight’?

Lewis won an Olympic gold medal, was a three-time champion, a two-time lineal champion and held the undisputed crown in the 90s making him one of of the most decorated heavyweights in history.

In what is considered a golden era in boxing’s blue ribbon division, Lewis’ resume stacks up against the best, facing the likes of Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Frank Bruno, Vitali Klitschko and Hasim Rahman before hanging up the gloves.

‘The Lion’ had been the last man to hold all major belts at the same time, that was before Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury earlier this month to become the sole belt holder.

Predicting how he would have faired against the 6’9 ‘Gypsy King’, Lewis backed himself to get the victory but admitted his fellow countryman has all the assets to give him a tough night.

“Lennox Lewis [wins].

I feel I’m a lot stringer than him but he’s got good boxing ability and he’s tall so he would have given me a great fight.”

Just like Lewis against Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, Fury will get a chance to avenge his loss, with his promoter, Frank Warren, confirming that his charge will activate his rematch clause and take on the Ukrainian once again.

With both men taking punishment in the first encounter, an initial date of October has been put back the end of the year to give them time to fully recover.
