Lennox Lewis Delivers Major Advice To Moses Itauma

Lennox Lewis has shared some wisdom with young rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma.

Itauma is just 21-years-old but is one of the most exciting fighters in the division. He has fought 14 times, won 12 of those by knockout and 11 inside the first two rounds, including Dillian Whyte back in August.

His most recent foray into the ring came against the tough American Jermaine Franklin, who had previously been to the UK twice before to fight Anthony Joshua and Whyte and taken both the full 12 rounds.

Itauma got the job done impressively inside five rounds and now the talk is of who can give him good rounds as he continues his rise through the ranks.

Speaking to iFL TV, former undisputed ruler Lewis suggested he shouldn’t rush things.

“Moses is a great upcoming young fighter. He’s got a lot of grit, he throws some good punches. There’s time when he’s going to have to make that move but the time isn’t now, he’s got a lot of time left, don’t rush.

“If I was him I would wait until Oleksandr Usyk retires and then know I’m going to rule this heavyweight scene. But to go in with him now is a little bit too early.”

Two-time undisputed champion Usyk is fighting kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven in Egypt in May, and may then only have one or two fights left.

Tyson Fury is now back in action after a long lay off, but has said he wants Anthony Joshua, which means Itauma could target the winner of the WBO fight between Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley in May.
