Lennox Lewis Reveals His Favourite Knockout Is Monster Punch That Left Opponent Unable To Stand

Lennox Lewis has a boxing record that most in the sport would dream of.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion ended his professional career with 41 wins and just 2 defeats, with 32 of those victories coming by knockout.

Lewis was able to defeat a number of big names by stoppage, including the likes of Mike Tyson, Shannon Briggs, Frank Bruno, Oliver McCall, Hasim Rahman and Tommy Morrison.

With that in mind, pinpointing just one stoppage as his favourite could be a tough task for Lewis, but it seems that there is one that sticks out for ‘The Lion.’

Speaking to The Ring, Lewis says it was his knockout win over Rahman – a left-right combination in the fourth that put ‘The Rock’ flat on his back – in November 2001 that takes the title as being his most enjoyed.

“It would have to be against the guys that beat me where I came back and stopped them. They were very important punches and fights. Hasim Rahman was a great one for me.”

Rahman had first beaten Lewis in a shock upset in South Africa in April 2001, before the Brit then gained revenge seven months later, and he explained just why defeating Rahman meant so much to him.

“When I lost he was shouting ‘no more Lewis-Tyson.’ He left South Africa and didn’t visit [Nelson] Mandela. I went to visit him.

“As I went to meet him he said ‘keep that right hand higher and you’ll get him next time.’ The way he made me feel good I knew I’d win that next fight.”

The heavyweight record of Lewis stands up there with the careers of many others throughout boxing history, but he has now named who he feels is the most underrated heavyweight from his era.
