Lennox Lewis Needed Just 4 Words When Asked If He’s Making A Boxing Comeback

Not only was Lennox Lewis’ last ever fight a victory, it was one against Vilatli Klitshcko, a formidable opponent who went on to become a dominant champion in his own right.

That contest in 2003 was a bloody battle in which Lewis inflicted serious damage on Klitschko, cutting his eye badly and forcing a technical stoppage.

At that point, Lewis had won everything there was to win in the ring. The former Olympic medalist gad become the undisputed heavyweight champion in 1999 by beating Evander Holyfield having also claimed the scalps of the likes of Mike Tyson, Frank Bruno and many more, including revenge wins over the two underdogs who knocked him out earlier in his career – Hashim Rahman and Oliver McCall.

Lewis is often regarded as one of the greatest ever heavyweights, famous for his stiff jab and straight right hand which was developed under the legendary trainer Manny Steward from Detroit’s Kronk gym.

Many boxers are often tempted into a return to the ring either on the lure of money or the idea of being the new stars of the game. Speaking to Seconds Out, Lewis was asked if the excitement of a big fight week ever tempted him to come back. He said ‘been there, done that.’

“Been there, done that. Even when I hear the crowd roar I remember, so it doesn’t really leave me too much.”

This week, news has been circulating that former unified heavyweight ruler Wladimir Klitschko might be making a comeback and IBF champion Daniel Dubois is one-man who said he would give the Ukrainian a shot.

It also comes after Mike Tyson made a controversial return to the ring, losing over the eight rounds distance to Jake Paul.
