Daniel Dubois is now eyeing up a fight with the winner of Tyson Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Dubois has risen to the top of the heavyweight tree over the course of the last year following a run of three standout victories.

After plenty of ups and downs in the early part of his career, the now 27-year-old has found some superb form of late. It began in December of last year when he took on the 300lbs Jarrell Miller, weathered an early storm and came through it to stop the American with seconds left of the 10th and final round.

He then managed to stop number one ranked fighter Filip Hrgovic back in June again after coming through some heavy fire, and that win saw him eventually elevated to IBF champion.

This past weekend he legitimised his status as world champion against former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua. Dubois was explosive from the start and knocked Joshua down in three of the first four rounds before stopping him once and for all in the fifth.

Lennox Lewis spoke to BoxNation about Dubois’s fine performance.

“I was very impressed with the way he came out into the fight. He was positive, he was focussed, he was aggressive, he knew he wanted to go in there and do damage. He said he was the king and he’s the king right now, the champion.”

Lewis was then asked how Dubois would get on against Usyk or Fury.

“I think he fares well, he’s pretty positive right now and the next goal is he wants to be undisputed champion.”

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has floated the idea of a rematch, but if not, ‘DDD’ will indeed be hoping for a four-belt clash with the winner of Fury and Usyk.
