Lennox Lewis famously performed well in rematches and has a view on whether Daniel Dubois can avenge his loss to Oleksandr Usyk if the two were to meet again.

In 1994, Oliver McCall handed Lewis his first professional loss with a shocking second-round knockout. In a 1997 rematch, Lewis got his revenge via TKO, and then again took a surprise upset loss to Hasim Rahman in 2001. In their rematch later that year, Lewis delivered a devastating right hand that knocked Rahman out cold and reclaimed his heavyweight titles.

Dubois came up against Usyk in August of 2023 in his first attempt at winning a word title. The British puncher managed to knock Usyk down, but the punch was immediately ruled as an illegal low blow and Usyk was given plenty of time to recover. He did, and then rallied and broke Dubois’s heart, eventually stopping him in the 9th round.

Since then Dubois has grown in confidence, stopping Jarrell Miller, Fillip Hrgovic and most recently Anthony Joshua to win and retain the IBF world title Usyk had to vacate in order to honour his rematch with Tyson Fury.

After winning that second contest with ‘The Gypsy King’, Usyk was confronted in the ring by Dubois who wants a second shot at the former undisputed cruiser and heavyweight king.

Speaking to BoxNation, Lewis gave his view on how Dubois would get on.

“He fares well.”

He then expanded on why.

“He’s pretty positive right now and the next goal is he wants to be undisputed champion.”

Usyk has admitted he will be up for the challenge. That said, Dubois has his hands full ahead of that potential fight as he faces Joseph Parker in his next defence on February 22.
