Lennox Lewis Knows Exactly How He Would Beat Oleksandr Usyk: “He’s Susceptible To That”

Lennox Lewis was the last man to be undisputed heavyweight champion before Oleksandr Usyk took that title.

The Ukrainian added his name to the history books by defeating Tyson Fury in May to pick up all four major belts and then beat ‘The Gypsy King’ again in late December, quite possibly sending him into retirement.

He has beaten everyone he faced across two weight division including Anthony Joshua twice, Derek Chisora and Tony Bellew.

In a clip shared by Fight Hub TV, Lewis was asked how he would have gone about beating the pound-for-pound great.

“I would throw a good uppercut, cause he’s susceptible to a good uppercut and I throw a mean uppercut and that’s how I would definitely fight the fight.”

He was then asked if there is any truth in the long held view that Usyk is weak to the body. It is a claim based off him once being knocked down via the body in the amateurs, and because he took a knee after what was judged to be a low body blow against Daniel Dubois in their fight in August 2023, though he later went on to win by knockout.

“Well, anybody who is vulnerable to the body and everybody who is saying it, usually goes away and works on the body. Let them think I’m vulnerable to the body, that’s what I want them to think. Now my body is tough, and now if they go to the body I will hit them at the same time.”

Next up for Usyk could well be a rematch with Dubois should the IBF champion come through his tough defence against form man Joseph Parker in February 2025.
