Lennox Lewis Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Mike Tyson Still Has The Power To Knock Jake Paul Out

Lennox Lewis is well aware of just how hard Mike Tyson hits.

Lewis met Tyson back in June 2002, and although it was towards the end of Tyson’s career, Lewis still had to avoid plenty of big shots on his way to an eighth round stoppage win.

Over 20 years since that fight, ‘Iron Mike’ is on the brink of having another professional contest, as he prepares to meet Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a highly controversial match-up.

Many fans don’t believe the bout should be going ahead, and Lewis has given his take on that matter whilst speaking with FOX 29.

“That’s what I call them – exhibitions. Youtube fights. It can’t be serious fights, it’s just an event to me … Of course [I watch them] you never know what’s gonna pop up.

I don’t even know what the rules are, I don’t know what’s happening. I’m happy for them, I think they’re gonna make a good bag and make it exciting. There are a lot of kids that love Jake Paul, a lot of kids that love Tyson. They want to see what’s gonna happen in the ring. Me too.”

Lewis then revealed if he still thinks ‘Iron Mike’ has the power to beat Paul.

“Mike Tyson’s gonna win. Mike Tyson’s not that old. Don’t take him too softly. We’re one year apart … You can fight somebody like that and do well, because the person you’re fighting is not a true fighter and there’s a hundred things that you’ve forgotten that he’s learning.

[The age] will be a little bit of a determining factor if the fight goes on too long, but if they get close and Mike Tyson comes with his ten second combination, if one of those punches catches [Paul] he’s definitely gonna go down.”

Freddie Roach was in the corner of Tyson during the latter stages of his career, and he has shared his thoughts on the fight with Paul.
