Lennox Lewis Names The Only Heavyweight Remaining Who Can Beat Usyk: “Get Him In There”

Lennox Lewis has been discussing who deserves a shot against heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk is widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. From winning gold at the 2012 London Olympics in the heavyweight division to becoming history’s first-ever undisputed cruiserweight champ turned two-time undisputed heavyweight champ has taken just 13 years.

In the banner division, the Ukrainian has beaten Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, all twice, with big punching Dubois being stopped on both occasions.

Usyk is thought to be an almost unsolvable puzzle thanks to his exceptional footwork, ring IQ, southpaw stance and technical mastery. For that reason, many wonder if he will ever be beaten, despite now being 38-years-old.

Speaking to after watching him knock Dubois out inside five rounds, former undisputed heavyweight ruler Lewis named the one man who has a chance.

“I think Joseph Parker has the best chance right now. I think they’ve been freezing Joseph Parker out. Joseph Parker needs that next fight, so get him in there. Joseph Parker has been waiting for his chance. I don’t know why he hasn’t had it yet. I think he should be the next fight.”

Parker is on a fine run that has seen him knockout Martin Bakole inside two rounds, and beat both American former champion Dental Widler and big Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang on points, all in the last 18 months.

As such, he is the WBO mandatory who Usyk has been ordered to defend against, though there is scepticism about the fighting happening.
