Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has spoken out and revealed his top five fighters of all time.
The British-Canadian great had an accomplished professional career of his own, entering the paid ranks back in 1989 after he walked away from the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 with a super heavyweight Gold Medal.
Lewis would go on to win the world heavyweight championship on three occasions during his tenure, defeating the likes of Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Vitali Klitschko and Frank Bruno to name a few.
‘The Lion’ eventually became the undisputed heavyweight champion when he defeated Holyfield in their rematch back in 1999, defeating his rival via unanimous decision at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
In an interview with Hard Rock Bet, Lewis was asked to name his top five fighters of all time as he overlooks former opponent Mike Tyson and five-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“Muhammad Ali, Jack Johnson, [Marvin] Hagler, George Foreman, Joe Louis there you go,”
Lewis was then asked if he considers himself to be one of the greatest fighters of all time.
“Yeah, I’m in that room, I’m definitely in that room.”
It comes as no surprise to hear some of the selections from Lewis, with many boxing fans viewing Ali as the best ever, while Johnson, Hagler, Foreman and Louis are also held in extremely high regard.
Lewis finally called time on his own career just a short while after he defeated Ukrainian icon Vitali Klitschko in the summer of 2003, walking away from the sport with a record of 41-2-1.
Whilst he suffered two losses during his tenure, Lewis was able to avenge these defeats which came against Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, meaning he effectively defeated every single opponent that he crossed paths with.
