Lennox Lewis has predicted who would win if former and current world champions Frank Bruno and Daniel Dubois were to have met in their primes.
Lewis and Bruno squared off in a memorable heavyweight clash in October 1993 in Cardiff that was famously dubbed ‘The Battle of Britain.’ It marked the first time two British-born fighters vied for a world heavyweight title and though Bruno started strong and was leading on the cards with solid jabs and heavy combos, Lewis’ counter-punching eventually caught up with him and stopped him in round 7.
Right now, Dubois is in the form of his career, and starred in his own all-British world title fight back in September. He defended his IBF strap in impressive fashion with a 7th-round KO of former two-time ruler Anthony Joshua.
In a round of winner stays on with Mail Sport Boxing, Lewis was asked who would come out on top if Dubois were to fight Frank Bruno and sided with his former foe.
Bruno has previously expressed plenty of support for Dubois. Next month, he rematches Oleksandr Usyk, having lost by stoppage the first time they fought in August 2023. This time, all four major belts are on the line, and he could become only the second undisputed champion after the Ukrainian since Lewis was the last man to rule supreme over the division in 1999.
Should he win, he will soon have his hands full with mandatory challenger Joseph Parker waiting in the wings.
