By Andy Rivera: The year 2019 will mark 25 years of promoting for Lenny Fresquez. Fresquez along with Event Coordinator Doris Robinson, may put on a card in to commemorate Fresquez’s 25 years of promoting events.
Fresquez, who is the Godfather of boxing promoting in New Mexico has promoted many champions throughout his career, Fresquez put on his first card when future flyweight champion of the world Danny Romero Jr. fought Facundo Rodriquez in August of 1994. Fresquez has promoted other world champion fight cards, along with Romero, Johnny Tapia and Cruz Carbajal to name a few. He is still the only promoter/manager for arguably one of the top three women’s fighters of all time in Holly Holm.
When Holly Holm, left boxing to enter the MMA circle, Fresquez was still her promoter and negotiated Holm’s fight with then UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey, Holm stunned the MMA world halting Rousey in winning the UFC crown and making Her one of the most popular figures in sports.
