Lennox Lewis is considered a heavyweight great by many, but now he has revealed who he sees as the best to ever do it.
Lewis was the last man to be the undisputed heavyweight world champion before Oleksandr Usyk came along in 2024 and defeated Tyson Fury.
Lewis held the honour back in 1999 after he beat Evander Holyfield. He fought on for another four years, and though he took an upset loss to Hasim Rahman in 2001, he avenged that with an immediate rematch and then beat Mike Tyson and Vitali Klitschko to retire with a record of 41 wins from 44 fights.
He has remained a popular figure in the sport ever since and is often ringside for many of today’s biggest fights.
However, speaking to Hard Rock Bet, Lewis revealed his five greatest fighters of all time and went with plenty of classic choices from generations gone by.
“I would say Muhammad Ali, Jack Johnson, [Marvin] Hagler, George Foreman, Joe Louis, there you go.”
Ali is known as ‘The Greatest’ for what he achieved in the ring as a two-time world heavyweight ruler, while Johnson was the first black heavyweight champion of the world and ruled for seven years.
Former middleweight champion Hagler was one of the ‘Four Kings’ during a legendary period for that division in the 1980s, while Foreman will forever be linked with Ali after their famous 70s bout, the Rumble in the Jungle.
Last but not least, Louis is another celebrated talent from the banner division who held a world title for 12 years and defended it a still-record 25 times.
