Lennox Lewis Didn’t Hesitate When Asked If Daniel Dubois Can Ever Become World Champion Again

Lennox Lewis knows what it takes to win back a world heavyweight title an and has been speaking about Daniel Dubois‘s chances of repeating that feat.

Lewis retired in 2003, having beaten every man he ever faced in the ring, and before Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, he was the last undisputed heavyweight champion.

However, along the way, he took two upset losses to Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman, both of which he managed to avenge in rematches with impressive knockout victories.

Dubois last fought in August when he was beaten by KO for a second time by the now two-time undisputed ruler Usyk. That left him without the belt he had won after beating Filip Hrgovic in June 2024, then defended when he stopped former two-time champion Anthony Joshua in August last year.

Speaking to BoxNation, Lewis backed Dubois to get back to the top.

“There are a lot of guys out there he can beat. Usyk’s not going to be there forever, he’s still learning, and he can still do a lot of great things in boxing.”

Since his last fight, Dubois has left his trainer Don Charles and is set to hook up with former Joshua coach Tony Sims as he looks to get back in contention for a second world title tilt.

Right now, the only losses in his career are the two against Usyk and once against Joe Joyce when he retired with a broken eye socket. In the last, he has rebuilt well after losses and will be looking to do so again in 2026 despite reportedly turning down an offer to fight Joseph Parker.
