Lennox Lewis has given his expert view on how Moses Itauma might fare if he were to take on Oleksandr Usyk any time soon.
Itauma is just 20 years old but has plenty of momentum behind him already. Across his 13 professional bouts so far, he remains undefeated, with 11 knockouts and, even more impressively, nine inside the first two rounds.
He ended 2025 with a fine display against Dillian Whyte which saw him have the former world title challenger down early before ending the fight inside the opening two minutes.
Later in January, he takes on tough American Jermaine Franklin in Manchester, and a fight with Murat Gassiev could be on the horizon after that.
In the meantime, former undisputed heavyweight ruler Lewis has been speaking to Sky Sports Boxing and assessed how Itauma might fare against the great Usyk.
“Way too soon. It’s better to wait. Wait until he retires. He’s not going to stay around too long. I’m talking Oleksandr Usyk, and then take your shot. There’s no use doing it right now.
“Right now you’re learning –– you’re learning everything and you have to wait until the right time. You can never be rushed. If you rush you’re going to do a bad result for your career. So it’s better to take your time and take it when it’s there, when it’s ready, when you’re ready.”
Usyk has not fought since August when he defeated Daniel Dubois to become the two-time undisputed champion, and has said he would like to fight Deontay Wilder in 2026.
