Liam Smith Destroys Sam Eggington/Scott Fitzgerald Edges Past Anthony Fowler

Former WBO super welterweight champ Liam Smith took out the outgunned Sam Eggington inside five rounds at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool England on Saturday night.

Former WBO super welterweight champ Liam Smith, 27-2-1-(15) took out the outgunned Sam Eggington, 24-5-(15) inside five rounds at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool England on Saturday night.

 

After witnessing the one sided beating the referee had seen enough and called off the fight after 2:00 of round five. The win secured Smith the vacant WBC silver title and another opportunity at fighting for another world title.

 

On the undercard former IBF bantamweight champ champion Paul Butler, 28-2-(14), outpointed Fadhili Majiha, 23-13-4-(10) in a routine six rounder at super bantamweight.

 

In a 12 round junior welterweight bout Robbie Davies Jr, 18-1-(12), out-pointed Joe Hughes by scores of 118-110, 115-113 and 115-114 to claim the British and European titles.

 

In the shock of the night Anthony Fowler dropped a 10 round split decision defeat to Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, who weighed in 6oz over at the first attempt at the weigh in, dropped Fowler in the 10th round. The scores were 94-95 twice for Fitzgerald and 96-94 for Fowler.

Philip Bowes retained his Commonwealth super lightweight title with a 12 round points win over Tom Farrell. The scores were 118-110, 117-112 and 118-111.
