Carl Froch and Darren Till had some heated exchanges over the weekend and now Liam Smith has given his view on a potential match-up.

Former UFC star-turned-boxer Till was in action again on Saturday night when he stopped 40-year-old ex-UFC champion Luke Rockhold on a Misfits bill, and he soon looked ringside to see Froch and start calling him out.

Former super-middleweight champion Froch walked away from the sport with a famous knockout win against George Groves in their rematch at Wembley in 2014, and has not fought since.

Promoter Kalle Sauerland revealed afterwards that there had already been talks about a potential match-up and now, speaking to Boxing King Media, Till’s friend and gym-mate Smith spoke up the fight.

“Look, Darren will do anything to drum something up. I think he does want the Froch fight, I think Froch has called him a bit on YouTube. I think Carl got uncomfortable there.

“Darren’s a fu**ing lunatic. Last thing you want is him jumping out of the ring threatening to choke you, it’s the last thing I’d want anyway, know what I mean. So I think Carl just got off rather than having the aggro of Darren Till in front of him screaming and shouting and spitting in his face.”

He then gave his view on how it might go.

“Look, on the street I think we know who wins. But in the ring, Carl Froch [is an] unbelievable fighter and Darren Till knows that. Carl Froch is an older version of himself now, been out of the ring a long time, whether he wants to fight again is a different story. I would love to see it now, honestly, it’s a no brainer.”

‘The Cobra’ has suggested that if the money was right, he would indeed come out of retirement to face Till, who is 16 years his junior.
