It’s currently unknown what Vasiliy Lomachenko‘s next move will be.

The Ukrainian great is the current IBF lightweight champion after stopping George Kambosos Jr back in May, but nearly eight months on there has been no news on when he could return.

Unification fights would be what boxing fans most like to see, with Gervonta Davis currently holding the WBA title, Denys Berinchyk the WBO crown, and Shakur Stevenson the WBC belt.

It seems that a clash against Lomachenko wouldn’t interest Stevenson though, after he took to social media to insist his rival should hang up the gloves.

“Retire. He’s not trying to be in no big fights, so why be in the sport?”

Stevenson then explained to Boxing News why he is no longer impressed by Lomachenko.

“I’m kinda over it. I think he’s soft. At that last fight he pushed up on me and was talking kinda reckless but then he don’t want to get in a boxing ring and square off.

“I have respect for him for what he done in the sport of boxing, but lately I lost a lot of respect for him. I don’t even see the point of him boxing if he’s not gonna fight me or Tank. What’s the point? What are you doing?”

With Lomachenko seemingly not in his focus, Stevenson returns to action in Febraury when he defends his title against Floyd Schofield.

While it may pit together two unbeaten talents, the fight that the boxing world wants to see at 135lbs for Shakur is a clash against Davis. They had an infamous sparring session several years ago, and Stevenson has lifted the lid on exactly what went down against ‘Tank.’
